The song “Meghla Akash” is the last lyrical composition written during the lifetime of veteran South Asian lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar. The track has been composed and arranged by musician Apu Aman and is performed as a duet by Dithi Anwar and Apu Aman.
According to Dithi Anwar, both the recording and the music video for the song have already been completed. She stated that the project carries strong emotional and personal significance for her, as it is directly linked to her father’s final creative period. She also confirmed that Gazi Mazharul Anwar had observed the recording process while he was still alive, which she described as an important moment for the family.
Dithi Anwar further explained that her father had a close professional relationship with Apu Aman. She said that Gazi Mazharul Anwar personally invited him to work on several of his songs and assigned him responsibility for their musical composition. “Meghla Akash” was among the works entrusted to him under this arrangement.
Apu Aman has described the opportunity to set music to a song written by Gazi Mazharul Anwar as one of the most significant achievements of his career. He also stated that he had met the lyricist shortly before his death and worked with him on shaping the musical arrangement of the song. He recalled that this final interaction took place two days prior to Gazi Mazharul Anwar’s death in 2022, marking a rare professional experience for him.
The song is planned for release ahead of the upcoming Eid period through a newly launched YouTube channel operated by Dithi Anwar.
It is also noted that Gazi Mazharul Anwar had planned to perform the song with his wife on 24 September 2022, coinciding with their 50th wedding anniversary. However, this performance did not take place due to his death in the same year. As a result, the composition has come to be regarded as his final completed lyrical work.
