Family Claims Police Refused Rape Case Against NCP Leader

In the Hazaribagh area of Dhaka, a woman has accused a local leader of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) of raping her under the false promise of marriage. However, the victim’s family claims that police have refused to register a formal case regarding the incident.

The issue has sparked debate and criticism on social media over the past two days.

According to the police, the woman has indeed filed a complaint against the NCP leader. A General Diary (GD) has been recorded initially, and authorities state that a formal case will be filed if the allegation is proven during the investigation.

The victim’s brother-in-law attempted to file the case at Hazaribagh Police Station on Saturday, 26 July, alleging that the accused had maintained an eight-year romantic relationship with the woman and raped her in June under the pretext of marriage.

Claim by Victim’s Family

  • The accused resides in the Hazaribagh area.
  • He is reportedly affiliated with the NCP.
  • Police declined to take the case due to the accused’s political connections.

In response, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam of Hazaribagh Police Station stated that the alleged incident took place in an area falling under Kamrangirchar Police Station jurisdiction. “The allegation that we refused to file the case is not accurate,” he said.
