The Trump administration on Wednesday requested that the United States Supreme Court swiftly hear its appeal against a lower court ruling that challenged the president’s tariffs, citing urgent impacts on sensitive trade negotiations.
In a motion filed with the Court, Solicitor General John Sauer emphasised the importance of a rapid decision, stating:“The Solicitor General… respectfully requests that this Court expedite resolution of this case to the maximum extent feasible, given the enormous importance of quickly confirming the full legal standing of the President’s tariffs.”
The administration also requested that oral arguments be scheduled by early November, signalling the pressing nature of the issue for international trade relations.
