Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, President of the Dhaka University unit of Chhatra Dal, has come under direct verbal attack from Mejbah Uddin Saeed, a leader of Jamaat-e-Islami.
In a strongly worded Facebook post on Tuesday evening (9 September), Saeed branded the Chhatra Dal leader as an agent of R&AW (India’s external intelligence agency) and a stooge of Delhi, while also warning: “Insolence will not be tolerated — it will cost you dearly.”
The post spread rapidly across social media platforms, fuelling debate and drawing sharp counter-responses.
Details of the Facebook Statement
Mejbah Uddin Saeed, a member of the Majlis-e-Shura of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Dhaka Metropolitan South chapter, hails from Jailaskar Union in Dagonbhuiyan upazila, Feni district.
In his post, Saeed wrote: “How dare the President of DU Chhatra Dal show such arrogance, banging on the table in front of the Vice-Chancellor? Insolence will not be tolerated — it will cost him dearly. By serving R&AW and acting as Delhi’s pawn, one cannot continue to live in Bangladesh. Loud and clear.”
Counter-Reaction from BNP Leadership
In response, Yakub Nabi, Joint Convenor of the Feni District BNP, retaliated by sharing a photograph on Facebook showing Mejbah Uddin Saeed with former Awami League MP Nizam Hazari.
Yakub Nabi accused Saeed of being a stooge of the Awami League, turning the attack back on the Jamaat leader and escalating the war of words on social media.
