Bangladesh Announces Squad for the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup!

Published: 15 Nov 2025, 05:39 pm

Bangladesh is gearing up to host the upcoming Women’s Kabaddi World Cup, and with the tournament only days away, the Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation has officially announced the national squad. Several participating teams have already arrived in Dhaka, and preparations at the National Kabaddi Stadium are moving into their final phase.

In most global tournaments, captains and head coaches attend the squad announcement event. However, Bangladesh’s announcement ceremony was notable for their absence. Federation General Secretary SM Nowaz Sohag explained that the national team is currently undergoing intensive training at BKSP, making it impractical for the captain and coach to attend the press briefing. He reaffirmed that the players are fully focused on conditioning and tactical preparations ahead of the high-stakes competition.

Originally, 14 nations were expected to participate in this edition of the World Cup. However, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands and Argentina withdrew at the last moment, reducing the final lineup to 11 countries. Pakistan and Poland were kept as standby options; Pakistan ultimately opted out, but Poland confirmed participation. Sohag noted that the hosting responsibilities—including accommodation and local transport—will be provided by Bangladesh, but all participation matters fall under the authority of the International Kabaddi Federation.

The Bangladeshi squad presents a balanced mix of seasoned campaigners and dynamic young players, many of whom have progressed from regional training centres. With the World Cup taking place on home soil, expectations are high for a strong performance.
