Bangladesh Hosts Its First-Ever Stadium Ultra-Run—A 36-Hour Challenge!

Published: 15 Nov 2025, 05:28 pm

Bangladesh is set to host its first-ever stadium-based ultra-running event as Coastal Ultra Bangladesh announces the launch of “Dhaka Stadium Run 2025.” The event will take place on 25 and 26 December at the iconic National Stadium in Dhaka, marking a historic milestone for endurance sports in the country.

According to an official statement from the organisers, the Bangladesh Athletics Federation will act as an associate partner in staging the event. Coastal Ultra Bangladesh has already earned recognition for hosting major long-distance running competitions; earlier this year, in February, the organisation held the longest ultra-marathon in Bangladesh’s history along the Cox’s Bazar Marine Drive. Nearly 400 runners from home and abroad participated across the 50, 80, 100 and 200-kilometre categories.

Ultra-running typically refers to any race that exceeds the traditional marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres. However, stadium ultra-races bring a unique twist. Instead of covering a fixed distance, athletes run for a fixed duration, and the winner is the participant who logs the most distance within that period.

For the 2025 event, organisers have announced four timed categories: 36 hours, 24 hours, 12 hours and 6 hours. Approximately 400 international-standards runners are expected to take part, supported by around 200 volunteers working throughout the venue to assist athletes.

Registration for the event will open on 16 November at 8 pm, and only shortlisted applicants will receive entry. Interested participants can apply through the organisation’s official website, listed as “coastalultra.com” (presented without hyperlink as instructed).

The introduction of a high-endurance, stadium-based ultra-run marks a significant step for Bangladesh’s growing running community and places Dhaka firmly on the map of international ultra-running events.
