The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has officially published a comprehensive schedule of revised fares for inter-district and long-distance bus services across the country. The updated pricing structure, which also includes recalculated rates for metropolitan routes within Dhaka and Chattogram, was made available on the BRTA’s official website on Friday, 24 April 2026.
The new fare brackets differentiate between vehicle capacities, specifically providing distinct rates for 51-seater and 40-seater buses. This regulatory adjustment aims to standardise transport costs following recent shifts in operational expenses and fuel prices.
Services departing from the Gabtoli terminal, which primarily serve the northern and western regions of Bangladesh, have seen the following adjustments:
Dhaka to Panchagarh: This route, one of the longest from the capital, now has a set fare of 1,005 BDT for 51-seater buses, while the rate for 40-seater buses is fixed at 1,281 BDT.
Dhaka to Rangpur: Passengers travelling in 51-seater vehicles will be charged 751 BDT, whereas those opting for 40-seater coaches will pay 911 BDT.
Dhaka to Dinajpur: The fare is set at 974 BDT for 51-seater buses and 1,241 BDT for 40-seater services.
Dhaka to Jhenaidah: 51-seater bus fares are now 501 BDT, with 40-seater coaches set at 639 BDT.
Dhaka to Rajshahi: For the 51-seater configuration, the fare is 777 BDT, and for 40-seater buses, it is 991 BDT.
Dhaka to Meherpur: The revised rates are 776 BDT for 51-seaters and 981 BDT for 40-seaters.
The Sayedabad terminal handles the majority of the traffic heading towards the eastern, southern, and coastal districts. The new rates are as follows:
Dhaka to Chattogram: The fare for a 51-seater bus is established at 704 BDT, while the 40-seater service is curiously listed at 552 BDT.
Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar: Travel to the prominent tourist hub will cost 900 BDT in a 51-seater vehicle and 1,147 BDT in a 40-seater coach.
Dhaka to Sylhet: The 51-seater fare is 580 BDT, while the 40-seater rate is 740 BDT.
Dhaka to Barishal: For 51-seater buses, the fare is 464 BDT, and for 40-seaters, it is 592 BDT.
Dhaka to Khulna: The rates are 541 BDT for 51-seaters and 690 BDT for 40-seaters.
Dhaka to Teknaf: As the longest route in the southern corridor, the 51-seater fare is 1,047 BDT, with the 40-seater coach priced at 1,335 BDT.
The Mohakhali terminal serves as the primary hub for the Greater Mymensingh division and surrounding northern-central districts:
Dhaka to Mymensingh: The short-haul route fare is now 294 BDT for 51-seater buses and 375 BDT for 40-seater buses.
Dhaka to Jamalpur: Passengers will pay 386 BDT for 51-seater transport and 492 BDT for 40-seater services.
Dhaka to Sherpur: The fare for 51-seater coaches is 421 BDT, while 40-seater buses are set at 537 BDT.
Dhaka to Kishoreganj: The revised rates are 401 BDT for 51-seaters and 511 BDT for 40-seaters.
The BRTA has instructed all transport operators to prominently display the updated fare charts at every ticket counter to prevent overcharging. Passengers are advised to verify the vehicle’s seating capacity before payment, as the pricing tier varies significantly between the standard 51-seat configuration and the more spacious 40-seat arrangement.
Mobile courts and BRTA enforcement teams are expected to monitor major terminals to ensure that transport owners adhere strictly to these newly gazetted rates. The authority has emphasised that any deviation from the official list will result in legal action against the offending operators. This update follows a series of consultative meetings between government officials and transport associations intended to balance the financial viability of the transport sector with public affordability.
