Carpenter Criticises Trump Administration Over Music Use

Published: 07 Dec 2025, 08:04 pm

The White House has once again used a clip of Sabrina Carpenter to promote U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), following the singer’s criticism over the previous use of her music.

Earlier this week, Carpenter called out the Trump administration for its “inhumane agenda” after her song ‘Juno’ was used in a video promoting ICE activity. On Friday (5 December), the White House posted a new video featuring her image.

The clip shows Carpenter in a recent Saturday Night Live commercial alongside cast member Marcello Hernández. The audio was altered, making it appear as if she was calling Hernández “illegal” rather than “hot”.

In the original commercial, Carpenter says, “I think I might need to arrest someone for being too hot.” Hernández responds, “Oh well, I turn myself in,” followed by her saying, “You’re under arrest.” This referenced her recent tour, where she playfully “arrested” audience members during performances of ‘Juno’.

The White House video then depicts allegedly undocumented immigrants being chased and arrested, with a caption: “PSA: If you’re a criminal illegal, you WILL be arrested & deported.” The original song clip shows Carpenter singing about “freaky positions,” but the video layers footage of police detaining people.

Carpenter condemned the administration, saying, “Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.” Previously, White House press secretary Abigail Jackson stated they would not apologise for deporting “dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles.”

The clip was quietly removed from X on Friday, though it remains on TikTok. Other musicians including Olivia Rodrigo, Addison Rae, Shakira, and Bad Bunny have also voiced opposition to ICE raids under the Trump administration.

Carpenter’s song ‘House Tour’ ranked 34 in NME’s 50 Best Songs of 2025 list.
