City Bank PLC and Toyota Bangladesh Limited have entered into a strategic partnership designed to enhance financial collaboration and support the business operations of the automobile company in Bangladesh. The cooperation was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the head office of City Bank in Dhaka, marking a significant development in corporate banking partnerships within the country.

The agreement was signed by Premmit Singh, Managing Director of Toyota Bangladesh Limited, and Mashrur Arefin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of City Bank PLC. Senior representatives from both organisations attended the signing ceremony, highlighting the importance of the partnership for the future activities of the two institutions.

Under the terms of the agreement, City Bank will provide a wide range of banking services to Toyota Bangladesh Limited. These include credit facilities to support the company’s operational and financial needs in Bangladesh. In addition, the partnership will offer corporate cards for business expenditure, collection and cash management services, and comprehensive foreign trade support aimed at facilitating international transactions associated with vehicle imports and related business activities.

The agreement also includes employee banking services, which will allow Toyota Bangladesh to manage payroll and financial services for its workforce more efficiently. Such services are expected to improve administrative efficiency while providing employees with convenient access to banking solutions.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mashrur Arefin emphasised that the partnership reflects a strong professional relationship between the two organisations. He noted that Toyota’s decision to route its foreign direct investment transactions through City Bank demonstrates confidence in the bank’s capabilities and its experience in supporting foreign-owned companies operating in Bangladesh. According to him, the bank remains committed to providing reliable financial services that enable multinational corporations to operate smoothly within the country.

Premmit Singh expressed appreciation for the collaboration and described the agreement as a positive step toward strengthening cooperation between the two organisations. As part of the partnership, he announced special purchase discounts on Toyota vehicles for employees of City Bank. The initiative, he said, is intended to encourage closer engagement between the staff members of both institutions.

Analysts observe that such partnerships between major financial institutions and international automotive companies can help strengthen the business environment by improving financial access and operational efficiency. The automotive sector in Bangladesh has been gradually expanding in recent years, supported by increasing urban mobility demands and a growing consumer base.
