Police in Ashuganj, Brahmanbaria, have arrested Md. Sumon Mia (28) with 120 kg of marijuana. A pickup van carrying the drugs was also seized.
He was apprehended around 9:30 am on Saturday during a search at Khariyala Bus Stand in Durgapur Union on the Dhaka–Sylhet highway. Sumon is the son of Md. Rashed Mia from Araibari, Kasba.
OC of Ashuganj Police Station Md. Khairul Alam stated that based on secret information, the operation led to the arrest of Sumon Mia along with the pickup van. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, 120 kg of marijuana was recovered. A case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act at Ashuganj Police Station in this connection.
