Popular Bangladeshi musician Habib Wahid has expressed surprise and delight after discovering that one of his songs was used in an official diplomatic video shared on Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s verified page. The video, which highlighted the recent visit involving Bangladesh’s political leader Tarique Rahman, featured Wahid’s well-known track “Mohajadu” as its background score.
Speaking about the unexpected moment, Wahid said he first learned of the inclusion after waking up and checking his phone. Several acquaintances had sent him links to the video, prompting him to view it himself. What he saw, he noted, left him genuinely astonished. The song, originally performed for Coke Studio, had been incorporated into a high-profile visual narrative involving two nations, something he had not been informed about in advance.
Wahid admitted that no one had contacted him regarding the use of the track. The discovery, he said, came entirely by chance. Despite the surprise, he expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing it as both an honour and a source of encouragement. The musician remarked that having his work featured in such a context made him feel fortunate, especially as it connected audiences across borders.
The singer also reflected on his limited engagement with social media. While he maintains an official page to share updates about his work, he rarely uses Facebook on his mobile phone. Most of his activity, he explained, takes place on a laptop or desktop when necessary. He deliberately avoids the mobile app, saying it can easily distract him and consume valuable working time without notice.
Wahid further noted that he has not seen direct public reactions online, though he has heard about the response through others. Still, he emphasised that the appreciation of listeners remains his greatest reward.
Addressing speculation about any personal interaction with political figures involved in the video, he clarified that he has not met or spoken with them. The moment, therefore, came as a complete surprise.
On the professional front, Wahid said he remains focused on his music career. His latest release, “Premer Kolongko”, has already received a positive response from listeners, and he continues to concentrate on upcoming projects.
