Horrific Bus-Microbus Collision Kills 13 in Bagerhat

Bagerhat, Bangladesh – A tragic head-on collision between a Bangladesh Navy bus and a passenger microbus in the Gunai Bridge area along the Khulna-Mongla Highway has claimed the lives of 13 people. The accident occurred on Thursday (12 March) in the Ramphal area, raising concerns that the death toll could rise further.

According to local authorities, the collision happened when both vehicles were travelling at high speed. The impact caused the microbus to crumple, resulting in multiple fatalities and serious injuries. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with debris scattered across the roadway.

Emergency responders, including police and fire service personnel, arrived promptly at the site and launched a rescue operation. The injured were transported to Ramphal Upazila Health Complex and Khulna Medical College Hospital for urgent treatment.

Hospital sources report that nine of the deceased were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital, while four were brought to Ramphal Health Complex. Among those who arrived at Khulna Medical College, three were children, three were women, and two were men. Another patient is currently receiving critical care in hospital.

Dr. Mehenaz Mosharraf, on duty at the emergency department of Khulna Medical College Hospital, stated:
"As of 6:00 pm, eight bodies had been brought to the hospital. Several others are in serious condition and receiving treatment. The situation is under close monitoring."

The police have warned that the death toll may rise as authorities continue to assess the scene and attend to the injured. Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the collision, including whether speed or road conditions played a role.

Authorities continue to coordinate with emergency services to manage the aftermath, recover the deceased, and ensure timely treatment for those injured. The community has been urged to remain vigilant and assist where possible as the investigation continues.
