Kacey Musgraves has unveiled a set of three intimate Texas concerts to mark the release of her forthcoming studio album, while also spotlighting a young mariachi trio whose recent immigration detention drew national attention.
The Grammy-winning country artist confirmed on Tuesday, 28 April, that she will perform at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas, on 3, 4 and 5 May. The announcement comes just days after the release of her sixth studio album Middle of Nowhere, scheduled for 1 May. Musgraves shared the news via Instagram, posting a promotional poster listing “Kacey Musgraves … with special guests The Mariachi Brothers.”
The Mariachi Brothers are the performing name of siblings Antonio, Caleb and Joshua Gámez-Cuéllar from McAllen, Texas. Aged 18, 14 and 12, the brothers have built a reputation as young mariachi musicians performing alongside their family group. Their profile rose significantly after a performance on Capitol Hill last year, arranged through an invitation from Representative Monica De La Cruz.
Earlier in 2026, the Gámez-Cuéllar family was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Texas for roughly two weeks. Their subsequent release in March followed public scrutiny and wider debate over immigration enforcement practices. Antonio, the eldest, is recognised as an award-winning trumpeter, while his younger brothers have also performed regularly within the regional mariachi tradition.
Musgraves has previously voiced criticism of immigration enforcement policies. In 2025, she publicly commented on social media about accountability and transparency in enforcement operations during public demonstrations, aligning herself with other artists who have expressed similar concerns.
Her forthcoming album Middle of Nowhere follows 2024’s Deeper Well, which reached number two on the Billboard 200 chart. The new project continues her pattern of high-profile collaborations, featuring contributions from Miranda Lambert and Willie Nelson. Two tracks have been released in advance: “Dry Spell” and the title track.
