The Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, has stated that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is governing the nation and advancing public welfare by following the noble principles of Islam. Addressing a gathering in Narsingdi, the minister emphasized that the Prime Minister is systematically fulfilling every pledge made to the citizens of Bangladesh.
Dr Moyeen Khan made these remarks as the chief guest during a prayer and milad mahfil held on Wednesday afternoon at the Palash Upazila Multipurpose Auditorium in Narsingdi district, organised to mark Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
Reflecting on the religious significance of the occasion, Dr Moyeen Khan described Eid-e-Miladunnabi as an exceptionally sacred and glorious day for Muslims across the globe. He noted that during his lifetime, the Prophet Muhammad performed monumental work for human welfare and imparted eternal guidance for world peace. The minister asserted that the current administration remains fully committed to following those divine instructions to the letter.
Expanding on the spiritual and moral framework of governance, Dr Moyeen Khan observed that true adherence to Islamic teachings requires following both the Holy Qur’an and the Hadith. That combination, he added, represents the true essence and ideal of Islam.
Highlighting his party’s political philosophy, the minister reiterated that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has consistently prioritized public welfare. He reassured the audience that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman remains steadfast in delivering on his promises to the electorate.
The event was presided over by Palash Upazila BNP President Abdus Sattar and moderated by Senior Joint General Secretary Bahauddin Bhuiyan Milton. A number of prominent figures delivered speeches, including Advocate Rokhsana Khondker, wife of Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Chairperson of The Millennium University; freedom fighter Tofazzal Hossain Master, Administrator of the Narsingdi Zila Parishad; Advocate Jasim Uddin Bhuiyan, Senior Vice-President of Palash Thana BNP; Saiful Haque, General Secretary of Palash Thana BNP; and Alam Molla, President of Ghorashal Paurashava BNP.
Earlier in the day, Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan visited his ancestral home in Charnagardi. He offered prayers at the family graveyard located beside his residence, seeking heavenly peace for his late father, former Food Minister Abdul Momen Khan, and his late mother, Khorsheda Banu.
During the graveside homage, the minister was accompanied by key district and sub-divisional officials, including Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner Israt Keya, Superintendent of Police Abdullah Al Maruf, and Palash Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Ishtiaque Ahmed.
