Pakistan has marked a historic milestone on the global film map with its documentary Moklani – The Last Mohanas, which has been awarded the prestigious Jackson Wild Media Award, widely regarded as the “Oscar” for nature documentaries. The film triumphed against competition from over 500 international entries, securing this distinguished honour for the first time for a Pakistani production.
This victory represents a significant milestone for Pakistan’s film industry. No Pakistani film had previously attained this level of recognition in this category. Directed and produced by Zawad Sharif, the documentary shines a spotlight on the indigenous Mohana community living around the picturesque Mohar Lake.
