The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a series of provocative claims regarding the initial stages of its latest military campaign, dubbed "Operation True Promise 4". According to high-ranking Iranian military officials, the first 48 hours of the offensive have resulted in over 650 American military casualties and the strategic withdrawal of a premier US naval asset from the Persian Gulf.
In a statement that has sent ripples through regional security circles, IRGC spokesperson Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini asserted that Iranian strikes—utilising a sophisticated mix of ballistic missiles and suicide drones—have devastated US installations across the Middle East.
The General highlighted a specific strike on the US Navy’s 5th Fleet Headquarters in Bahrain, claiming that a single coordinated assault on a "critical facility" resulted in 160 casualties. Furthermore, the IRGC reports that the US Navy's Combat Support Ship (MST) sustained catastrophic damage from a direct missile hit.
"It is entirely expected that the Americans will attempt to suppress or deny these figures," General Naeini stated. "However, our intelligence assets and battlefield reconnaissance confirm the veracity of these numbers."
Perhaps the most significant claim involves the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group. Tehran asserts that the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier was forced to abandon its position in Iranian coastal waters following a barrage of four cruise missiles launched from the Chabahar coast in southeastern Iran.
According to the IRGC, the vessel was stationed approximately 250 to 300 kilometres offshore before being compelled to retreat toward the southeastern Indian Ocean to escape the strike zone.
The following table outlines the specific claims made by the IRGC regarding the first two days of the operation:
| Target/Asset | Location | Claimed Outcome | Reported Casualties |
|---|---|---|---|
| USS Abraham Lincoln | Gulf of Oman/Arabian Sea | Forced to retreat to Indian Ocean | Unspecified |
| US 5th Fleet HQ | Bahrain | Multiple missile/drone penetrations | 160 |
| MST Support Ship | Persian Gulf | "Catastrophically damaged" | Unspecified |
| Various US Bases | Regional | Extensive infrastructural damage | 490+ |
| Total Force Impact | N/A | Operation ongoing | 650+ |
Tehran has framed "Operation True Promise 4" as a direct retaliatory measure against what it describes as the "ongoing aggression" of the United States and Israel. This latest escalation follows a series of joint US-Israeli strikes on Iranian soil earlier in the week.
While Washington has yet to verify these casualty figures, the rhetoric from Tehran suggests a shift toward a high-intensity war of attrition. The alleged targeting of the 5th Fleet Headquarters in Bahrain—a sovereign nation hosting a massive US naval presence—represents a significant expansion of the conflict's geography. Independent analysts remain cautious, noting that while Iranian missile capabilities have improved, the IRGC often utilises "information warfare" to exaggerate the efficacy of its strikes for domestic and regional consumption.
