The Government has constituted a five-member Search Committee tasked with recommending candidates for the appointment of the Chairman and Commissioners of the Anti-Corruption Commission of Bangladesh (ACC). The move is aimed at ensuring a structured and transparent selection process for one of the country’s key anti-graft institutions.
The formation of the committee was officially announced on Monday (22 June) through a notification issued by the Cabinet Division under the authority of the President. The order was signed by Joint Secretary Tanvir Ahmed on behalf of the government.
According to the notification, the committee will be responsible for shortlisting and recommending suitable individuals for the top positions of the ACC, in line with existing legal and institutional frameworks governing the commission’s appointments.
The five-member panel brings together senior figures from the judiciary, constitutional offices, and public administration. The committee is chaired by a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Justice Md Rezaul Haque.
Other members include Justice Rajik Al Jalil of the High Court Division, who represents the judiciary’s supervisory role in maintaining institutional integrity during the selection process.
By virtue of their official positions, the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh, S M Rezhvi, and the Chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission, Dr Mobasher Monem, are also included in the committee. In addition, Dr Nasimul Gani, Secretary of the Cabinet Division, serves as an ex-officio member.
The inclusion of high-ranking constitutional and administrative officials reflects the government’s intention to ensure neutrality, accountability, and institutional balance in the selection process for the ACC leadership.

The current committee is expected to review potential candidates and submit its recommendations to the appropriate appointing authority after completing its evaluation process.
The formation of the committee marks an important procedural step in maintaining continuity in the leadership of the commission, which plays a central role in promoting accountability and good governance in Bangladesh.
