SRB-6 Inspects Historic Khulna Temple Ahead of Durga Puja

Lieutenant Colonel Nistar Ahmed, Commanding Officer of the Special Response Battalion-6 (SRB-6) in Khulna, conducted an official security inspection of the historic Dharmasabha Temple on Saturday to assess safety measures for the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja festival. During his visit on Saturday, 17 October 2026, the commanding officer reviewed the venue’s operational readiness and delivered a comprehensive briefing regarding security protocols for worship venues across the region.
Addressing temple organisers, journalists, and local community leaders, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed reassured the public that SRB-6 has implemented a multi-layered security strategy to guarantee a peaceful, safe, and uninterrupted celebration of the Hindu community’s largest religious festival. Special patrols have been actively operating throughout the battalion’s designated jurisdiction since 13 October, establishing a visible and reassuring security presence.
The security apparatus covers 394 Durga Puja mandaps situated across Khulna city and the surrounding district. To safeguard these venues, security forces have deployed mobile patrols, established temporary checkpoints at strategic intersections, and intensified covert intelligence surveillance. Reserve forces remain stationed in state of readiness to respond immediately to any unforeseen incidents or emergencies.
Law enforcement authorities are also addressing digital threats surrounding the festivities. SRB-6 has activated vigilant cyber monitoring units tasked with detecting and curbing online rumours, hate speech, or provocative content designed to disrupt religious harmony.
Expressing optimism, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed noted that communal harmony would be upheld throughout the celebrations through close cooperation among puja celebration committees, local residents, civil society, media personnel, and law enforcement agencies. The combined operations aim to maintain order and preserve the traditional spirit of peaceful co-existence during the festive period.
