In Muradnagar, Cumilla, locals collectively beat and handed over a young man named Saddam Hossain (30) to the police on the allegation of sexually assaulting three five-year-old Madrasa-going children.

On Saturday (November 15) morning, the villagers collectively beat and handed over the accused youth to the police in Raitola village of Dhamghar Union of the upazila.

The accused Saddam Hossain is the son of late Bachchu Mia of Raitola village in Muradnagar upazila.

Locals said that on Thursday (November 13) afternoon, the three children were returning home together after Madrasa was over. On the way, Saddam Hossain lured them with chips and took them to a residential house where he sexually assaulted the three children. Later, when one of the sexually assaulted children informed her grandmother, tension escalated in the area.

On Saturday morning, the angry locals detained and collectively beat the accused Saddam Hossain. Upon receiving the news, Muradnagar police rescued him from the spot and brought him to the police station.

Shamim Ahmed, a resident of Raitola village, said, "A party was trying to suppress the incident through mediation. Many such incidents have been resolved and suppressed through mediation before. We want the culprit to receive the maximum punishment in this incident. Otherwise, such incidents will increase further in society."

Jahidur Rahman, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muradnagar Police Station, said, "The accused Saddam Hossain has been arrested on the charge of sexually abusing three minor girls. Preparations are underway to produce the accused in court after filing a case in this incident."
