46,200 Students to Receive Junior Scholarships

The results of this year’s Junior Scholarship Examination are expected to be announced later this week, providing a significant boost for thousands of students across Bangladesh. In 2026, a total of 46,200 students are set to receive scholarships, with 14,700 awarded as merit-based (Talent Pool) scholarships and 31,500 as general scholarships.

Kamrun Nahar, Assistant Director of the Planning and Development Wing at the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), stated that the results are likely to be released on 25 February.

Examination Overview

The Junior Scholarship Examination was conducted between 28 December 2025 and 5 January 2026, covering students who successfully completed the eighth grade last year. A total of 315,160 students participated nationwide. The results are currently being processed under the supervision of the Dhaka Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

Professor S.M. Kamal Uddin Haidar, Controller of Examinations for the Dhaka Board, confirmed that the final list of scholarship recipients will be published promptly, pending approval from the Ministry of Education.

Financial Benefits

Merit scholarship recipients will receive a one-time annual grant of BDT 560 and monthly payments of BDT 450, while general scholarship recipients will receive BDT 350 annually and BDT 300 monthly. These benefits will be provided for two consecutive years.

Examination Structure

The 2026 examination assessed students in Bangla, English, Mathematics, Science, and Bangladesh & World Introduction. The total score was 400 marks, distributed as follows:

Bangla: 100

English: 100

Mathematics: 100

Science: 50

Bangladesh & World Introduction: 50

Each paper was allocated three hours for completion.
