Al-Arafah Bank Launches Ten-Day Iftar Initiative

Bangladesh’s leading Islamic financial institution, Al-Arafah Islami Bank, has inaugurated a ten-day iftar distribution programme in observance of the holy month of Ramadan. According to an official press release, the initiative is designed to support underprivileged and often overlooked members of society, including those who rely on street food for daily sustenance.

The official launch ceremony took place on Sunday, 1 March 2026, at the bank’s head office. The event was attended by Mohammad Rafat Ullah Khan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, along with Assistant Managing Directors Md. Fazlur Rahman, Md. Asaduzzaman Bhuiya, Md. Aminul Islam Bhuiya, Mohammad Hossain, and S. M. Abu Zafar.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Khan highlighted the spiritual significance and humanitarian values of Ramadan. He stated, “Ramadan teaches self-purification, restraint, compassion, and a service-oriented mindset. Extending support to the destitute and neglected members of society is the truest expression of these teachings. Through this ten-day iftar distribution, we aim to assist those who are most in need.”

The programme is scheduled to operate daily at strategically selected locations across the capital city. Beneficiaries primarily include street children, rickshaw pullers, daily wage earners, travellers, and other low-income individuals. Each distribution site has been carefully chosen to maximise outreach, with the bank anticipating that thousands of people will benefit from this humanitarian effort each day.

Furthermore, the bank has indicated that, as the programme progresses, additional areas of Dhaka will be gradually included to extend its impact. Beyond Islamic banking, Al-Arafah Islami Bank actively participates in initiatives related to education, healthcare, disaster relief, and other humanitarian projects.
