A human skeleton has been recovered from a rubbish dump in the Kamarkuri area under Gacha Police Station in Gazipur City Corporation, prompting an investigation by law enforcement authorities.
The remains were discovered on Friday around 11:30 a.m. when local residents noticed what appeared to be human bones lying beside a large accumulation of waste. The shocking discovery immediately triggered concern in the neighbourhood, and police were alerted to the scene.
Officers from Gacha Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector Shahidul Islam, arrived shortly after receiving the report and recovered the skeletal remains from the site. According to police, the skeleton was found partially exposed within a pile of garbage in the area.
Authorities confirmed that the identity of the deceased could not be established at the time of recovery. No personal belongings or identifying documents were found near the remains, making immediate identification impossible.

Sub-Inspector Shahidul Islam stated that the skeleton was first spotted by local residents near a garbage dump, who then informed the police. He confirmed that law enforcement officers immediately visited the location and recovered the remains for further examination.
He added that, based on initial observation, the death likely occurred a considerable time ago. However, the exact cause of death could not be determined at the scene due to the advanced state of decomposition.
Following recovery, the skeletal remains were sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur for forensic analysis and post-mortem examination. Authorities hope that forensic experts will be able to determine the approximate time of death and possibly assist in identifying the individual.
Police officials stated that no conclusions have yet been drawn regarding whether the death was natural, accidental, or the result of foul play. All possibilities remain open pending the outcome of the forensic report.
Law enforcement agencies have launched a full investigation into the incident. Officers are currently working to determine whether any missing persons reports in the surrounding areas may match the recovered remains.
Residents of the locality expressed shock at the discovery, noting that the area is frequently used as a dumping ground for household and industrial waste, which often remains unattended for extended periods.
The incident has also raised concerns about waste management and security in rapidly expanding urban areas of Gazipur, where informal dumping sites are common. Authorities are expected to review whether the location had been previously monitored or reported as a potential hazard.
As investigations continue, police have urged the public to report any missing persons or suspicious activity that may assist in identifying the deceased and determining the circumstances surrounding the death.
The case remains under active investigation, with further updates expected following the completion of forensic analysis.
