The recent Israeli military strikes in Lebanon have claimed the lives of at least 826 people, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported. Among the deceased are 106 children and 65 women. Alarmingly, 31 of the victims were paramedics or medical staff providing care to civilians at the time of the attacks.
A clinic in the southern town of Burj Kalawiya was also targeted, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 healthcare workers. Local health authorities have confirmed that both civilians and medical personnel were directly affected by the airstrikes.
| Category | Number | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Children (under 18 years) | 106 | Majority aged between 5 and 15 years |
| Women | 65 | Includes women of various ages |
| Paramedics / Medical Staff | 31 | Hospital and clinic personnel on duty |
| Other Civilians | 624 | Men and other general population |
| Total | 826 |
The figures indicate an alarmingly high number of child casualties. Residents in affected areas report widespread destruction of residential buildings, schools, and healthcare facilities. Many injured civilians are in critical condition and require urgent medical attention, though hospital capacity is under severe strain due to the scale of the attacks.
Experts warn that the strikes are having a profound impact on Lebanon’s social and health infrastructure. The physical and psychological wellbeing of children, in particular, is at significant long-term risk. Mental health professionals emphasise that prolonged exposure to such violence can have lasting developmental and emotional consequences for young survivors.
Humanitarian agencies and the Ministry of Health are urgently mobilising to provide medical care and safe shelter to those affected. However, escalating security risks are limiting the scope and effectiveness of relief operations. Many residents, especially women and children, have been forced to flee their homes for safety.
The international community has closely monitored the crisis. Human rights organisations and global observers have called for immediate measures to protect civilians and ensure access to humanitarian assistance.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health has repeatedly warned that casualty numbers continue to rise and the situation is rapidly spiralling out of control. Without urgent humanitarian intervention, the country faces a deepening humanitarian crisis affecting thousands of vulnerable citizens.
