Miscreants set fire to a pickup van parked beside the road in Ashulia of Savar. However, no casualties were reported in the incident. The matter was confirmed on Friday (14 November) at 8 am by Jirabo Modern Fire Service Senior Station Officer Abu Sayem Masum. Earlier, around 5 am, the arson took place in front of a garment factory named Medlar Apparels Limited in the Sarkar Market area on the Baipail-Abdullahpur road in Ashulia.
Quoting locals, the Fire Service said that around 5 am on Friday, two individuals arrived on a motorcycle, poured petrol on the pickup van, set it on fire, and fled. Locals then attempted to extinguish the fire and informed the Fire Service.
Senior Station Officer Abu Sayem Masum of Jirabo Modern Fire Service said that based on the information from locals, two units of the Jirabo Modern Fire Service reached the spot. However, as locals had already brought the fire under control, one unit assisted in extinguishing the remaining flames.
He stated that although the pickup van was damaged, no one was injured.
Ashulia Police Station OC Abdul Hannan said that the incident will be investigated and necessary legal action will be taken.
Earlier on Wednesday (12 November) around 4:45 am, four miscreants riding two motorcycles set fire to a bus of Alif Paribahan parked in front of the Women and Children Hospital in the Sarkar Market area of Ashulia. When the driver, who was sleeping inside the bus, came out injured and shouted, the miscreants fired blank shots to create panic and fled.
