The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a nationwide forecast warning of rain and thunderstorms over the next five days, accompanied by intermittent gusty winds and minor fluctuations in temperature. Citizens are advised to remain alert for sudden weather changes and take appropriate precautions.
Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick, senior meteorologist at the department, issued the forecast on Tuesday, 10 March. According to his briefing, several regions are likely to experience intermittent showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds at various intervals between 11 and 14 March.
The forecast indicates that while daytime temperatures may experience slight dips in some areas, night-time temperatures are expected to remain largely stable across the country.
Wednesday, 11 March (Morning 9:00 to 24 hours): Temporary rain or thunderstorms with gusty winds are expected in select locations across all eight divisions, including Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet. Daytime temperatures may slightly decrease, while night temperatures remain nearly unchanged.
Thursday, 12 March (Morning 9:00 to 24 hours): Intermittent rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds are forecast for Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, while scattered showers may occur in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram. Daytime temperatures may fall slightly, and night-time temperatures remain mostly stable.
Friday, 13 March (Morning 9:00 to 24 hours): Similar conditions are expected, with temporary showers and thunderstorms in Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet, and isolated rainfall in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram. Daytime temperatures remain largely unchanged, whereas night-time temperatures may rise slightly.
Saturday, 14 March (Morning 9:00 to 24 hours): Temporary rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds may occur in Mymensingh and Sylhet, with isolated showers possible in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram. Daytime temperatures may increase slightly, while night-time temperatures remain almost steady.
| Date | Divisions Likely Affected | Weather Conditions | Daytime Temperature | Night-time Temperature |

The Meteorological Department has urged residents, particularly in urban areas and regions prone to flooding, to remain cautious. Sudden gusty or squally winds may pose hazards to outdoor activities, construction work, and maritime operations. Commuters are advised to monitor local weather updates, while farmers should consider precautions for crops sensitive to rainfall or wind.
Dr. Mallick highlighted that temperature variations during the forecast period are expected to be minimal, but the intermittent storms could result in temporary disruptions to daily life in affected areas.
Meteorologists have emphasised that the early March weather pattern reflects seasonal transitional conditions, with fluctuating wind speeds and scattered rainfall common across the country during this period. Citizens are encouraged to plan travel and outdoor activities accordingly and to remain updated through official meteorological advisories.
