Shoriful Gifts BPL Player Award to Ground Staff

The twelfth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League concluded weeks ago, with Rajshahi Warriors claiming the championship after defeating Chattogram Royals. Despite his team falling short in the final, pace bowler Shoriful Islam emerged as the tournament’s standout performer, taking a tournament-high 26 wickets and earning the Player of the Series award. This marked a historic moment, as Shoriful became the first specialist bowler to receive this prestigious accolade in BPL history.

Alongside the trophy, Shoriful was entitled to a cash prize of 10 lakh taka. However, he did not receive the cash immediately. Once the prize money was handed over a few days later, Shoriful made a remarkable gesture of generosity by donating the entire sum to the ground staff at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur, acknowledging their hard work behind the scenes. Currently, Shoriful is part of the ongoing Bangladesh-Pakistan ODI series, though he did not feature in the playing eleven for Wednesday’s opening match.
