Zee Music Company has significantly expanded its independent music roster by signing veteran musician Adnan Sami and contemporary pop producer QARAN to bolster its non‑film music portfolio, the label confirmed on Thursday. The strategic move underscores Zee Music’s commitment to artist‑led music beyond the traditional Bollywood soundtrack arena.

Adnan Sami, a recipient of India’s prestigious Padma Shri award, is celebrated for his prolific contribution to Indian music over more than three decades. His repertoire encompasses numerous evergreen hits such as “Lift Karade”, “Kabhi To Nazar Milao”, “Tera Chehra” and “Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein”, all of which helped define the Indipop era of the 1990s and early 2000s. Moreover, Sami holds the distinction of being one of the first artists of South Asian origin to sell out London’s Wembley Arena for two consecutive nights, reflecting his enduring global appeal.

In his statement, Sami described the collaboration as a fresh creative chapter, emphasising that the partnership with Zee Music offers him the freedom to explore new musical directions while remaining true to melody.

Alongside Sami, Zee Music has also added QARAN — a leading figure in India’s modern urban pop landscape — to its line‑up. QARAN is widely recognised for blending Indian melodic sensibilities with international production styles. Among his most notable works are the celebrated tracks “Haaye Oye” and “Tareefan”, the latter of which was a breakthrough pop crossover success in recent years.

Zee Music’s Chief Business Officer, Sujal Parekh, welcomed both artists, highlighting that the signings align with the company’s broader vision to nurture diverse talent and amplify Indian music on the global stage.

QARAN spoke of Indian pop’s evolving global footprint and expressed excitement about pushing creative boundaries and building musical bridges worldwide.

With new material under development from both artists, Zee Music Company continues to deepen its investment in non‑film music, creating opportunities for artistic innovation and expanding its catalogue to appeal to a broadening audience.
