Food delivery platform foodpanda Bangladesh has presented an electric bike to a delivery partner who has overcome significant physical challenges, recognising his determination and contribution to the company’s operations. The rider, Solayman, who lost one of his legs in childhood, received the e-bike during the company’s ‘Panda Rider Grand Iftar 2026’ event organised for delivery partners in the capital.
The ceremony took place at Altair Convention Hall on Madani Avenue in Dhaka, where senior officials of the company formally handed over the electric bike. Among those present were Ambareen Reza, co-founder and managing director of foodpanda Bangladesh, and Zubair B A Siddiky, who jointly presented the vehicle to the rider.
Solayman’s story reflects resilience and determination. According to the company, he lost one of his legs in an accident during childhood. Despite the physical limitation, he continued his education and later entered the workforce to support himself and his family. Currently, he works as a delivery rider for foodpanda in Dhaka, where he has been carrying out deliveries across different neighbourhoods using a conventional bicycle.
The newly gifted electric bike is expected to significantly ease the physical strain associated with his work. With the assistance of an electric motor, Solayman will now be able to travel longer distances more efficiently, potentially increasing both the number of deliveries he can complete and his daily earnings.
Expressing gratitude for the gesture, Solayman said the support would make a substantial difference in his daily routine. He noted that cycling long distances for deliveries had often been physically demanding. The e-bike, he added, would help him perform his duties more comfortably and confidently while improving his efficiency on the job.
The ‘Panda Rider Grand Iftar 2026’ event was organised in observance of the holy month of Ramadan. Around 500 delivery partners and guests from different zones of Dhaka attended the gathering, which served both as a communal iftar and a platform for dialogue between riders and the company’s leadership.
During the programme, delivery partners shared their professional experiences and highlighted several challenges they encounter while working in the rapidly growing gig-economy delivery sector. Company officials listened to feedback and discussed ongoing initiatives aimed at improving working conditions.
The evening also featured a quiz competition and a prize-giving ceremony, while several riders who had made notable contributions to the platform were recognised for their dedication and performance.

As the demand for online food delivery continues to expand in Bangladesh’s urban centres, the company says it aims to strengthen rider welfare programmes and ensure that dedicated partners such as Solayman receive recognition and support for their perseverance and hard work.
