In an unexpected move, Haider Molla (31), Joint General Secretary of the Faridpur District branch of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), has resigned from his post, citing personal reasons. On Monday afternoon, he submitted a succinct two-line resignation letter to the acting convenor of the district committee.
In his resignation letter, Haider Molla stated:
"I, Haider Molla, hereby resign from the post of Joint General Secretary of Faridpur District NCP. I request the party's organisational leaders and activists to refrain from contacting me."
Speaking to the press, Molla elaborated, “Due to personal commitments and family obligations, I have decided, after careful consideration, to step down from my responsibilities. I will not be actively participating in politics for the time being.” He emphasised that his resignation was unrelated to any internal conflicts or party disputes.
The acting convenor of the district NCP, Shahed Ahmed, confirmed the receipt of the resignation, stating, “We have accepted Haider Molla’s resignation. It will now be forwarded to the central committee, and subsequent steps will be taken in accordance with the party’s constitution. In a democratic country, every individual has the right to change their political position.”
The Faridpur District NCP convenor committee was announced on 8 December 2025 and comprised a total of 101 members. The approval was endorsed by the party’s chief organiser for the southern region, Hasanat Abdullah, and central member-secretary Akhtar Hossain.

Although the resignation does not immediately affect the broader political landscape in Faridpur, it has initiated a process of internal reorganisation and reassignment of leadership responsibilities within the district NCP. The appointment of a new Joint General Secretary will now await the decision of the central committee.
Political observers have noted that Molla, one of the committee’s youngest and most active leaders, stepping back from politics may influence local party activities. His departure marks a transitional phase for the Faridpur District NCP, potentially reshaping leadership dynamics and organisational engagement at the district level.
