Pakistan’s Players Shine in ICC ODI Rankings

Pakistan’s players have surged in the ICC Men’s ODI rankings following their recent success. After their victory over South Africa, they began their series against Sri Lanka with another win, which has positively impacted their rankings.

In the recent match in Rawalpindi, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 6 runs, with key contributions from Salman Aga and Hussain Talat. Aga scored 105 runs off 87 balls, while Talat made 62 runs off 63 balls. Salman Aga’s brilliant performance has seen him make a significant jump in the ODI Batting Rankings, climbing 14 places to reach 16th, with a career-best 639 rating points.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s other star, Saim Ayub, did not feature in the Sri Lanka series but had back-to-back fifties in the series against South Africa. This has earned him a 18-place rise, putting him in a joint 35th position.

Haris Rauf, who had only played his second international match after the Asia Cup final, made a significant impact with his four-wicket haul against Sri Lanka. His efforts have pushed him up three places to 28th in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings.

Pakistan’s leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed has also seen a remarkable climb. After taking four wickets for just 27 runs in the series-deciding ODI against South Africa, he has jumped 17 places in the bowling rankings, reaching a career-best position.

In contrast, South Africa’s Quinton de Kock has been in excellent form since returning to international cricket. He made several half-centuries against Pakistan in the recent ODI series, and his performances have seen him rise four places to 15th in the ODI Batting Rankings.

Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga was another standout performer. He took three wickets for 54 runs and scored 59 runs in the lower order. This all-round performance has propelled him 14 places up the ODI Batting Rankings to 116th and moved him one spot up to 9th in the Bowling Rankings. Hasaranga is also in the top 10 of the ODI All-Rounder Rankings.

However, Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has been struggling for form. He dropped two places in the rankings to 7th, marking his first time outside the top five in six years. In his recent match, he was dismissed for just 29 runs, further impacting his position.

Pakistan’s home series against Sri Lanka has had a noticeable effect on individual rankings, as several players have seen improvements while others have slipped.
