For many urbanites, Thursday night is a time to unwind, shed the week’s fatigue, and enjoy relaxed conversations with friends. The new flash fiction ‘Thursday Night’ captures exactly that spirit—but with a twist. What starts as a joyous gathering quickly transforms into an unsettling and mysterious evening.

The trailer, released on 24 November, shows four friends enjoying a vibrant night filled with food, laughter, and excitement. Yet, a critical part of that night becomes completely forgettable for everyone. This lost memory becomes the story’s central mystery, prompting questions: What really happened? Who is telling the truth? Who can be trusted?

The narrative of ‘Thursday Night’ draws inspiration from a real criminal incident in Bangladesh. Built around the four pillars of friendship, partying, memory distortion, and investigation, the story follows four friends: Tanjia Mithila, Soumya Jyoti, Farrukh Rehan, and Tawhidul Tamil. The ensemble also features Nakshi Tabassum, Parvez Sumon, Mehedi Hasan, Sadid Adnan, and Rehnuma Aishi.

The story begins with an event involving Mithila, which sparks suspicion, misunderstandings, and an investigation. Combined accounts from friends, police assumptions, and a driver’s testimony add twists to the story. Director Zahid Pritom explains, “People remember events differently. I never aimed to prove who was right or wrong—audiences are the ultimate judges.”

The narrative employs the ‘Rashomon Effect’, presenting multiple perspectives on the same incident. Pritom adds, “I was fascinated by how people shape memories and interpretations to suit themselves.”

Cast members have shared their experiences. Samira Mahi, playing the police officer, said, “It was my first time portraying a police character. The filming was both challenging and enjoyable.” Farrukh Rehan added, “Following Pritom’s direction, I portrayed a raw, emotional character reminiscent of student life. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”

‘Thursday Night’ is jointly produced by Alpha-i and Chorki. Chorki confirms that while this is not an original fiction piece, it is specially formatted flash content created for their platform.
