Former Chhatra Dal Activist Murdered in Brahmanbaria in Brutal Attack

In a shocking act of violence, a former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activist, Saddam Hossain Saddam, 37, was brutally murdered in Brahmanbaria late on Thursday night. He was reportedly called out from his home and killed by slitting his throat and being shot. Saddam, the son of Mostofa Kamal Mostu, was a resident of the Kandipara Maimolhati area of the city.

Brahmanbaria Sadar police station’s Officer-in-Charge, Azharul Islam, confirmed the incident. He stated that Saddam was a former member of the student organisation and that his body has been sent to the district hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

According to Saddam’s father, Mostofa Kamal Mostu, his son was called out of the house around 1:30 am by individuals named Dilip, Babul, and Polash. He added that Saddam was later found near Khalpara Mosque, where he had been killed. His father described the horrifying scene, noting that Saddam’s throat had been cut and he had been shot in the chest. Saddam was married and leaves behind two young children.

Earlier on Thursday evening, a violent confrontation erupted in Kandipara between two groups over local dominance. The dispute involved Lion Shakil’s faction and the volunteer group led by Delwar Hossain Dilip. The clash resulted in gunfire that left three people injured and a total of five victims wounded. Later at around 12:30 am, two brothers, Robin and Rijan, were severely assaulted in the same area, with their motorcycle and cash amounting to 230,000 Taka stolen by the attackers. The injured brothers were sent to Dhaka for treatment.

The police have confirmed that a full investigation is underway. This brutal killing has left the local community in shock and has raised concerns about escalating violence between rival groups in the area.
