In a thrilling display of modern T20 cricket, India defeated South Africa by 30 runs to secure the five-match T20I series 3–1 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The match showcased a perfect blend of aggressive batting, disciplined bowling, and strategic fielding, much to the delight of the home crowd.
Electing to bat first, India set the tone with an aggressive start. After steady contributions from the openers, the spotlight shifted to the formidable middle-order pairing of Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya. The duo orchestrated a 105-run partnership that took India to an imposing 231 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs. Varma contributed a classy 73 runs, while Pandya’s scintillating 63 came off just 16 balls, marking India’s second-fastest fifty in T20 internationals.
Despite his valiant efforts, South African bowler Corbin Bosch managed only three wickets and could not stem the Indian onslaught. Shivam Dube’s cameo towards the end further propelled the score, leaving South Africa with a challenging target of 232.
Chasing the formidable total, South Africa started strongly, with Quinton de Kock setting the innings alight. His blistering 65 off 35 balls gave the Proteas hope, and at one stage, the visitors were 120 for 1, still very much in the hunt. However, the course of the match dramatically changed after the drinks break. Jasprit Bumrah turned the tide by taking de Kock’s wicket in a crucial moment, triggering a collapse where South Africa lost four wickets in just two overs.
Controlled bowling from Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakravarthy compounded the Proteas’ woes, leading to a dramatic batting collapse. Chakravarthy claimed four crucial wickets, though a few runs were leaked in the final over. South Africa’s innings eventually ended at 201 for 8, handing India a decisive 30-run victory and cementing the series triumph.
