A horrific incident of violence has claimed the life of a three-year-old boy in Mirsharai, Chattogram, allegedly stemming from a long-standing property feud. The tragedy unfolded on Wednesday at approximately 2:00 PM in the South Sonapahar area, under the jurisdiction of the Jorarganj Union, leaving the local community in a state of shock and mourning.
The victim, identified as Noor Abdullah, was the son of Nurul Alam Russell. According to family accounts, the catalyst for the murder was a bitter 15-year dispute with their neighbour, Deen Islam, concerning the construction of a dwelling on a contested plot adjacent to their home.
The victim’s father revealed that despite a court injunction prohibiting any construction on the land, Deen Islam and his brother, Ariful Islam, began work at 11:00 AM on Wednesday. When the child’s grandmother and mother attempted to intervene and uphold the court’s order, a heated verbal altercation ensued.
In a moment of unthinkable cruelty, Deen Islam allegedly seized the three-year-old and slammed him violently onto the ground. The toddler was rushed to the Mirsharai Upazila Health Complex, where attending physicians tragically pronounced him dead upon arrival.
