Stories of celebrity romances often captivate fans, just as much as the artists themselves sometimes share their own tales of love—whether before fame or during their rise to stardom. One such story belongs to Minar Rahman, the popular singer-songwriter of the younger generation. What began as a youthful romance eventually turned into a memory of heartbreak and betrayal, a chapter Minar has now opened up about on his Facebook page. He admitted that he had never intended to share this story publicly but felt compelled to do so during a quiet moment in the holy month of Ramadan.
For several days, a screenshot of a chat involving Minar circulated across Facebook groups, showing him sending multiple messages to a woman who did not respond. Amid speculation, Minar chose to share the story of his first love, providing clarity and context.
In his detailed Facebook post, Minar recounted that he was just 20 when he first fell in love. At the time, he had recently embarked on university life, which he describes as one of the most beautiful periods of his life—new friends, a new environment, and a colourful chapter of experiences.
| Year | Milestone | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 2008 | First Album: Dunpite | Minar wrote, composed, and sang; still in grades 9–10 |
| 2008 | Song Shada Released | Gained significant popularity among listeners |
| 2008–2010 | University Life | Described as a vibrant period with new friends and experiences |
| 2008 | First Love | Relationship lasted 6–7 months; ended due to betrayal |
Initially, the relationship seemed idyllic, but doubts soon emerged. Whenever they met around the city, the young woman would frequently receive calls from someone saved in her phone as “Boro Mama” (literally, “Elder Uncle”). She always postponed answering, promising to return the call at home. Minar initially dismissed this as ordinary family interaction.
However, one day, while at a restaurant, the phone rang, and the label “Boro Mama” flashed on the screen. The woman did not answer, leaving the restaurant shortly afterwards without explanation. Minar’s suspicion grew, and subsequent inquiries revealed that “Boro Mama” was, in fact, her ex-boyfriend. This discovery marked the end of his first love.
Reflecting on the experience, Minar described how it reshaped his understanding of trust, introducing him to the harsh reality of betrayal. He has since forgiven the individual involved, though the memory remains. Minar concluded with a heartfelt wish: that no one else faces such painful experiences in their own journey through love.
