Dhaka is preparing for a vibrant and music-filled celebration of Pahela Baishakh, as the capital readies itself for a series of large-scale concerts marking the Bengali New Year. With a blend of contemporary pop, rock, and fusion performances, the city is expected to transform into a lively cultural hub over the festive period.
Among the most prominent events is the two-day concert titled “Carpe Diem – Lal Boishakhi 1433”, organised by Assen and Rishka Connects. Scheduled to take place on 13 and 14 April at Kamal Ataturk Park in Banani, the event will feature leading names in the country’s modern music scene. Popular singers Habib Wahid and Pritom Hasan are set to headline the programme, alongside performances by several well-known bands. Organisers have described the concert as a youth-oriented celebration designed to blend nostalgia with contemporary musical trends.
Another major attraction is the Coke Studio Bangla concert, scheduled for 14 April at 3:00 pm at Courtside, located along the 100 Feet Madani Avenue. The platform has announced a curated festive lineup featuring some of its most recognised artists. Entry to the event will be ticketed, with prices ranging across three categories between Tk 200 and Tk 850. However, access to the main concert zone will be restricted to ticket holders of the Tk 800 and Tk 850 categories.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, fusion band Chirkutt will have a particularly busy schedule, performing at multiple university campuses across Dhaka. Known for their energetic stage presence and socially resonant lyrics, the band will perform at East West University in the morning, followed by North South University in the afternoon on 14 April, before concluding with a show at United International University on 15 April. Their expected setlist includes fan favourites such as Jadur Shohor, Ahare Jibon, Duniya, and Kanamachhi.
Speaking about the season’s engagements, Chirkutt’s lead vocalist Sharmin Sultana Sumi noted that performing during Boishakh holds special significance for the band, as it allows them to reconnect with young audiences and celebrate shared cultural identity through music.
As Dhaka prepares for crowded venues, open-air performances, and a festive urban atmosphere, authorities and organisers alike anticipate a safe and energetic celebration of the Bengali New Year, driven by music, youth participation, and cultural expression.
