FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has formally expressed his desire to extend his tenure at the Catalan club, indicating a wish to conclude his professional coaching career at the Camp Nou. Despite recent European setbacks, the German tactician remains central to the club’s long-term sporting project, with both the board and the manager aligned on a shared vision for the future.
Hansi Flick’s existing contract is set to run until 2027. However, club president Joan Laporta is reportedly preparing a contract extension to secure Flick’s services beyond the current term. This move signals a vote of confidence from the hierarchy, particularly following the club’s recent exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Atlético Madrid.
During a press conference held prior to the La Liga fixture against Celta Vigo, Flick confirmed that a contract renewal is part of his strategic planning. He noted that he is currently in the final stages of his career and finds the working environment at Barcelona highly rewarding.
Since his appointment for the 2023–24 season, Flick has overseen a period of significant domestic success. In his debut campaign, he guided the “Blaugrana” to a domestic treble, securing La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España. The current 2024–25 season has seen a continuation of this form, with the club already clinching another Supercopa and maintaining a substantial lead over Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table.
The following table outlines the performance and silverware achieved during Hansi Flick’s tenure:
| Competition | Result / Current Standing | Season |
| La Liga | Champions | 2023–24 |
| Copa del Rey | Champions | 2023–24 |
| Supercopa de España | Champions | 2023–24 |
| Supercopa de España | Champions | 2024–25 |
| UEFA Champions League | Semi-finalists | 2023–24 |
| UEFA Champions League | Quarter-finalists | 2024–25 |
| La Liga | Current Leaders | 2024–25 |
While Flick achieved continental glory with Bayern Munich in 2020, the UEFA Champions League title has remained elusive during his time in Spain. After reaching the semi-finals last year and exiting at the quarter-final stage this season, Flick has identified the trophy as his primary objective. He stated that winning Europe’s premier competition with Barcelona remains a definitive dream.
Beyond on-field achievements, Flick has expressed a personal interest in the club’s infrastructure. He has voiced a desire to manage the team within the renovated Spotify Camp Nou once the ongoing redevelopment project is complete. As the club nears a second consecutive La Liga title, the partnership between Flick and the administration appears focused on maintaining domestic supremacy while refining the squad for a renewed assault on European honours in the 2025–26 campaign.
