Helen Zerin Khan, a nominee from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for the reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament, has disclosed assets totalling over BDT 61.4 million in her official affidavit. The document, submitted to the Election Commission (EC), provides a comprehensive overview of her financial standing, including significant bank savings, landed property, and residential apartments.
Helen Zerin Khan is a seasoned political figure who previously served as a Member of Parliament in the 8th National Parliament from 2004 to 2006, also representing the BNP in a reserved seat. For the upcoming parliamentary term, she has been nominated by her party from the Madaripur constituency. Her profession is officially listed in the affidavit as social service and politics.
According to the affidavit for the 2025–26 fiscal year, Khan’s total assets are valued at BDT 61,443,495. A significant portion of this wealth is held in liquid or near-liquid forms. Her cash holdings amount to BDT 14,612,747, while her bank deposits stand at BDT 6,834,414. Furthermore, she has invested BDT 2,607,102 in the capital market.
Her long-term savings are substantial, with Fixed Deposit Receipts (FDR) totalling BDT 20,857,326 and a Deposit Pension Scheme (DPS) valued at BDT 9,500,000. In terms of personal property, she owns a motor vehicle valued at BDT 1,410,000, though the specific make and model were not disclosed. Additionally, she declared 50 bhori of gold, for which no specific monetary value or acquisition source was provided. Despite her significant assets, Khan has declared total debts amounting to approximately BDT 23.8 million. This includes a foreign currency loan equivalent to BDT 17,313,277 and a personal loan of BDT 6,500,000 borrowed from her husband.
Regarding her legal standing, the affidavit notes that Khan faced a total of 11 criminal cases initiated after 2017. However, she has since been acquitted or discharged from all these legal proceedings, leaving her with a clear record for the current election cycle.
