After nearly a decade of anticipation, Bangladeshi rock band Ashes is finally releasing its much-discussed track “Feriwala” today. The official music video is scheduled to premiere at 6:00 pm on the band’s YouTube channel, bringing to a close a long period of speculation, partial releases, and growing fan curiosity.
The song first entered public consciousness in September 2016, when Ashes’ vocalist and band leader, Junayed Evan, shared two cryptic lines on Facebook: “Moyla jome geche shesh line-e, tomar chokh onno bhabe jole.” At the time, the post served only as a lyrical teaser, offering no further details about a full release. Years later, in 2019, a demo version of the track was uploaded to YouTube, further fuelling audience interest but still leaving the final composition unreleased.
Over time, “Feriwala” developed a kind of mythos among listeners, particularly within Ashes’ fan community. The prolonged delay turned it into one of the band’s most anticipated works, often referenced in online discussions about unreleased or long-delayed South Asian music projects.
Emotional resonance among listeners
For many fans, the song has also become associated with personal memories. One listener reportedly shared that he had first heard a fragment of the track with a close friend who later passed away, expressing a wish that the full song had been released earlier. Such reactions highlight how unreleased music can still acquire deep emotional significance over time, even in incomplete form.
Production and release details
“Feriwala” is included as the fourth track on Ashes’ album Bhram. According to Junayed Evan, the song itself is more than a decade old in conception. He noted that although the idea originated years ago, its full production and release schedule extended far beyond initial expectations. The track has since been newly recorded, and its accompanying video has been filmed across locations in Canada and Kaptai Lake in Rangamati, Bangladesh.
