The league stage of the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season has concluded, formalising the line-up and schedule for the play-off segment. Rajasthan Royals secured the final remaining spot in the top four following a decisive victory over Mumbai Indians in the concluding group-stage fixture. This result finalised the quartet of teams advancing to the knockout phase, joining Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, all of whom had guaranteed their progression earlier in the tournament.
Throughout the group stage, each participating franchise contested a total of 14 matches. The competition for the top positions remained exceptionally close, with the final rankings dictated by Net Run Rate (NRR) due to a points deadlock among the leading three teams.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru finished at the summit of the table with 18 points. Despite accumulating the same total of 18 points, Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad secured second and third places respectively, based on their specific NRR calculations. Rajasthan Royals completed the top four with a total of 16 points.
Final League Table (Top Four Teams):
| Position | Team | Matches Played | Points | Qualification Status |
| 1 | Royal Challengers Bengaluru | 14 | 18 | Qualifier 1 |
| 2 | Gujarat Titans | 14 | 18 | Qualifier 1 |
| 3 | Sunrisers Hyderabad | 14 | 18 | Eliminator |
| 4 | Rajasthan Royals | 14 | 16 | Eliminator |
The IPL play-off system is designed to reward consistency during the league phase. The top two teams, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans, will compete in Qualifier 1. The winner of this encounter earns a direct berth in the final, while the loser receives a secondary opportunity to reach the final by competing in Qualifier 2.
Simultaneously, the third and fourth-placed teams, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals, will meet in the Eliminator. Unlike the first qualifier, this is a knockout match; the losing side is immediately eliminated from the competition, while the victor advances to face the loser of Qualifier 1.
The play-off fixtures are scheduled to commence on 26 May, culminating in the grand final on 31 May at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
| Round | Match | Date | Venue | Outcome Requirement |
| Qualifier 1 | RCB vs Gujarat Titans | 26 May | Dharamsala | Winner enters Final directly |
| Eliminator | SRH vs Rajasthan Royals | 27 May | Mullanpur | Loser is eliminated |
| Qualifier 2 | Loser of Q1 vs Winner of Eliminator | 29 May | Mullanpur | Winner enters Final |
| Final | Winner of Q1 vs Winner of Q2 | 31 May | Narendra Modi Stadium | Decides the Champion |
The transition from the league stage to the play-offs represents the most critical phase of the tournament. The Narendra Modi Stadium, chosen as the venue for the final, will host the two ultimate contenders to determine the champion of this year’s edition. Under this structure, the importance of Qualifier 2 is paramount, as it serves as the final gateway for teams to secure their place in the championship match.
