A significant quantity of narcotics and smuggled goods has been seized during a series of anti-drug and anti-smuggling operations conducted in the border areas of Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga district. The operations were carried out by the Chuadanga Battalion (6 Border Guard Bangladesh) over two consecutive days, Saturday and Sunday (6 and 7 June), in different border-adjacent locations.
According to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources, patrol teams from the battalion’s BOPs (Border Outposts) at Borobaldia, Sultanpur, and Baradi conducted separate operations in the border areas of Damurhuda. During these coordinated actions, officers recovered a range of illegal substances and contraband items.
The seized items included Indian cannabis, bottled liquor, pharmaceutical tablets, and smuggled consumer goods, alongside a battery-operated easy-bike believed to have been used for transportation purposes linked to smuggling activities. Officials confirmed that all recovered items were subsequently taken under official custody.
The estimated total value of the seized goods has been assessed by BGB at approximately BDT 902,650.

Chuadanga Battalion (6 BGB) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Hasan stated that the border force remains vigilant in ensuring border security and preventing drug trafficking and smuggling activities.
He said: “Border Guard Bangladesh remains alert and active at all times to ensure border security and to prevent drug trafficking and smuggling. Intelligence surveillance, routine patrols, and special operations in border areas will be further intensified.”
He further added that the force is committed to carrying out its duties with the highest level of professionalism and responsibility in order to curb illegal activities along the border. According to him, sustained operations of this nature will continue in the future to ensure a safer and crime-free border environment.
The BGB also noted that increased public awareness, strengthened intelligence activities, and regular operational drives have contributed to measurable progress in controlling drug trafficking and smuggling in the region.
