In the past 24 hours, two more people have died from dengue fever, while 386 new patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide due to the disease, according to the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The report, issued on Wednesday (30 July), stated that the two deceased were male patients, aged 35 and 25 respectively.
Breakdown of Hospital Admissions by Region
Between Tuesday (29 July) 8:00 AM and Wednesday (30 July) 8:00 AM, the following numbers of new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in various divisions:

While the numbers for 2024 remain significant, they are notably lower than the record-high figures in 2023.
Authorities Urge Public Vigilance
Public health authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and to take all necessary precautions to prevent mosquito breeding. They have also stressed the importance of intensifying anti-mosquito drives in high-risk areas to combat the spread of the Aedes mosquito, the primary vector of the dengue virus.
The government continues to monitor the situation closely and is encouraging community engagement in mosquito eradication efforts to reduce the risk of further outbreaks.
