Ali Riaz, Vice-President of the National Consensus Commission, has announced that the July Charter will soon be finalised.
He made the statement on Friday (8 August) during a press conference held at the LD Hall of the National Parliament Building.
“The draft of the July Charter was sent to the relevant political parties on 28 July. We have collected their feedback. A revised and comprehensive draft will be circulated among the political parties within the next few days,” Riaz stated.
He further added that a meeting with experts is scheduled for next week to discuss the implementation process of the charter. Following these discussions, a final round of consultations with political parties will take place to reach a conclusive decision.
Riaz expressed confidence, saying: “We are hopeful that the final version of the charter can be published very soon.”
Additionally, he mentioned that several points of consensus already reached — including electoral reform, judiciary reform, and the restructuring of institutions such as the Anti-Corruption Commission, Public Administration, and the Police Reform Commission — could be implemented through executive orders or ordinances.
