Trump Truly Deserves the Nobel Prize, Says Azerbaijan’s President

Azerbaijan’s President, Ilham Aliyev, has declared that Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, is “truly deserving” of the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his contributions in Africa, Asia, and the South Caucasus.

In an exclusive interview with Al Arabiya, President Aliyev stated “We nominated President Trump for the Nobel Prize because of his role in our peace process with Armenia. He truly deserves it.”

The full interview is scheduled to be aired by Al Arabiya next week.

Aliyev praised Trump’s work, particularly in conflict regions, saying: “He has accomplished extraordinary things in Africa, Asia, and the South Caucasus. This reflects his character—he genuinely wants peace.”

Aliyev contrasted Trump with traditional Western leaders, portraying him as friendly, generous, and distinct in his approach:

  • “He is completely different from the typical image of Western leaders, yet he is very approachable.”
  • “He is generous, offering more than was planned, because of his nature.”
  • “He is a man who deserves much credit for his achievements.”

Aliyev emphasised that his political stance towards Trump had always been positive, even during difficult political circumstances:“Even during his first presidential term, though we had no opportunity to meet, my view of him remained favourable. When the ‘deep state’ stole his victory, I still maintained a positive position towards him.”

The Azerbaijani President further alleged that in the run-up to the last US elections, certain major Western outlets—including The Washington Post, The New York Times, and Radio Liberty—conducted false propaganda campaigns against Trump. He also claimed that these same media organisations spread misleading reports about himself and Azerbaijan.

On 8 August, with Trump present, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a peace agreement, ending decades of hostility between the two nations.
