Love knows no age, but sometimes reality tests even the strongest bonds. Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar married Mohsin Akhtar, a Kashmiri businessman, despite a 10-year age difference, a topic that stirred considerable discussion at the time.

Urmila was born into a Marathi family in 1974 and began her acting career at the tender age of three, debuting in the film Karma. She is now 50 years old. Mohsin, born in 1984, runs a business in Kashmiri embroidery design. Despite the age gap, it initially posed no obstacle to their relationship.

Urmila and Mohsin first met in 2014 at the wedding of filmmaker Manish Malhotra’s brother. After two years of courtship, they tied the knot on 4 February 2016 in an intimate ceremony under the Special Marriage Act.

After eight years of marriage, news of their separation emerged. Rumours began circulating in early 2024, suggesting the couple was heading for a split. Initially, they did not comment publicly, but eventually, the news of their divorce was confirmed.

Age-gap marriages are not uncommon in Bollywood. For example, Priyanka Chopra is ten years older than her husband Nick Jonas, and their marriage has flourished. However, unlike such couples, Urmila and Mohsin’s union did not endure, despite initial harmony.

This episode serves as a reminder that love may transcend age, but sustaining a relationship requires more than just affection—it demands alignment of life paths and shared experiences.
