Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for a series of major attacks on United States military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain, describing the operations as part of the ongoing confrontation with the U.S. and Israel. The announcement was made on Wednesday, 11 March, through an official statement confirming the attacks.
According to IRGC’s own news portal, the assaults targeted critical infrastructure at the U.S. Fifth Fleet’s command centre in Bahrain’s Mina Salman Port. The port is considered a key hub for American naval operations in the region. The attacks reportedly involved both missiles and unmanned aerial drones, and the IRGC claimed substantial damage to American assets.
In Kuwait, the IRGC said it conducted coordinated strikes on multiple military sites, including Camp Patriot, Mohammad Al-Ahmad, Ali Al-Salem, and Camp Buehring. According to the statement, residential quarters, equipment hangars, and assembly centres for U.S. troops were heavily affected.
A summary of the reported attacks is as follows:
| Location | Target | Attack Type | Reported Impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mina Salman Port, Bahrain | U.S. Fifth Fleet HQ & infrastructure | Missiles, drones | Major structural damage; operational disruption |
| Camp Patriot, Kuwait | Troop accommodation & equipment | Missiles, drones | Significant damage to hangars and barracks |
| Mohammad Al-Ahmad, Kuwait | Troop centres & assembly areas | Missiles, drones | Large-scale destruction reported |
| Ali Al-Salem, Kuwait | Military equipment & housing | Missiles, drones | Equipment and residential damage |
| Camp Buehring, Kuwait | Troop housing & equipment | Missiles, drones | Operational facilities affected |
The IRGC stated that the strikes specifically targeted American personnel and military hardware, causing “significant losses” to U.S. forces. Analysts suggest that these attacks are likely to escalate tensions across the Gulf, given the strategic importance of these bases to American naval and logistical operations.
While official responses from the U.S., Kuwait, and Bahrain are still awaited, security measures have reportedly been heightened in the affected areas. The strikes underscore the increasing volatility in the Middle East and may have broader implications for regional security, energy markets, and international diplomacy.
