Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is not just a Bollywood superstar but also an internationally acclaimed actress. Her beauty, talent, and acting prowess have been admired worldwide.

Aishwarya made her Hollywood debut in 2004 with the film Bride and Prejudice, an adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride and Prejudice. Her entry into Hollywood became a widely discussed topic within the Bollywood industry at the time.

During Karan Johar’s popular show Koffee with Karan in 2004, when asked whether Aishwarya would succeed in Hollywood, Amitabh Bachchan commented: “She will be able to go a certain distance, but after that, there will be a glass wall.”

Despite her being unmarried at the time, Amitabh praised her talent, professionalism, and personality: “She is very talented, a wonderful professional, and a great person to work with.”

Several Bollywood celebrities shared their thoughts on Aishwarya’s Hollywood journey:

CelebrityComment
Zayed Khan“I think she has a universal appeal.”
Ekta Kapoor“I don’t know if she will succeed, but I hope she does, because my first project was with her.”
Shabana Azmi“She has everything that is needed, but the decision to go there or feel safer here has to be hers.”
Sushmita Sen“Aishwarya is being portrayed as someone who can take Bollywood to Hollywood, and I hope that happens.”
Bipasha Basu“I think she has already taken a step. It’s great because no other talented Bollywood actress has done this so far.”
Sanjay Dutt“I hope she succeeds, but I don’t think so.”

Following Bride and Prejudice, Aishwarya acted in a few more Hollywood films:

  • The Mistress of Spices
  • Provoked
  • The Pink Panther 2 (opposite Steve Martin)

Although her Hollywood career was relatively short, her presence at the Cannes Film Festival has kept her globally relevant. Every year, fans eagerly anticipate her red carpet appearances and style statements.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s journey demonstrates that while Hollywood may present challenges, her international recognition and iconic status continue to make her a celebrated figure in global cinema.
