The Brazilian national football squad has received a major fitness boost with the news that senior forward Neymar is set to return to competitive action. Following Brazil’s 3-0 victory over Haiti, manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that the 34-year-old attacker has successfully completed his rehabilitation program and will be available for selection in Wednesday’s final Group C encounter against Scotland.
Neymar was unable to participate in Brazil’s opening two fixtures of the tournament. In his absence, the South American team recorded a 1-1 draw against Morocco before securing their first three points against Haiti. At the post-match press conference, Ancelotti expressed complete confidence regarding the forward’s availability for the upcoming match.
“Neymar will train individually tomorrow,” Ancelotti stated. “Then on Monday, he will join the rest of the squad for full training. He will be available for the match against Scotland.”
The forward sustained his muscular injury on 17 May during a club appearance for Santos. The initial medical assessment provided by the club indicated that Neymar had suffered minor swelling in the muscle. Despite this physical setback, the national coaching staff opted to include him in the final World Cup squad list.
A week later, upon his arrival at the national team camp, a detailed evaluation by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) medical team revealed that the player had sustained a grade-two muscle injury. The CBF medical staff projected a three-week recovery timeline, which concluded on 17 June, clearing him to return to competitive play.
Due to various physical issues, Neymar’s appearances during the 2026 World Cup qualification campaign were highly restricted. However, his limited on-field contributions remained vital to the team’s offensive success.

Following their victory over Haiti, Brazil sit at the top of Group C with four points, leading second-placed Morocco strictly on goal difference. Earlier in the day, Morocco secured a 1-0 victory over Scotland, a result that leaves the Scottish team in third place with three points.
Ancelotti has demanded total concentration from his players, stressing that winning the group remains imperative for their tournament progression.
“Progressing to the next phase as group leaders is important for what lies ahead,” Ancelotti explained. “Therefore, we want to prepare very well for the match against Scotland. Scotland have their own strengths, which can cause us issues, just as they caused issues for Morocco today. We must focus on this match, remain calm, and continue working to improve our game.”
