The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has handed over 15 Bangladeshi nationals, including a child, to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) through a flag meeting at the Raghunathpur border in Benapole. The transfer took place around 10:00 PM on Saturday, following an official flag meeting between the two forces. Subsequently, the 15 individuals were handed over to their families by the police from the Benapole Port Police Station.
According to BGB sources, the group, which consisted of 15 men and women, had illegally crossed the border into India through brokers with the hope of finding better work opportunities. They had entered India via the Satkhira and Sundarbans border regions and had been residing illegally in the Kolkata area for nearly four years before being apprehended by the Indian police.
The flag meeting between the BGB and BSF took place at the Raghunathpur Border Outpost (BOP). After the meeting, BSF Camp Commander AC Praveen Chand handed over the individuals to BGB Company Commander Mizanur Rahman of the Raghunathpur BOP. The group was then transferred to the Benapole Port Police Station, where the authorities officially handed them back to their families.
