Punjab is grappling with a severe flood situation, which has worsened in recent days. More than 1,000 villages are currently submerged, and the number of casualties continues to rise daily due to persistent flooding and heavy rainfall.

The state government, in collaboration with the Indian Army, BSF, Air Force, and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), is conducting large-scale rescue operations. Residents stranded in water-logged villages are being evacuated, including via helicopters deployed by the army.

Several celebrities have come forward to support flood victims and aid relief efforts.

Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood superstar, took to social media, expressing his concern: "I am deeply pained to see Punjab in such a state. I pray that the state recovers swiftly. Whatever the circumstances, Punjab’s spirit must not be broken. May God bless everyone."

Shah Rukh has a long-standing connection with Punjab, having filmed multiple movies there, including Veer-Zaara. He has also portrayed Punjabi characters several times, further strengthening his bond with the region.

Diljit Dosanjh, the singer-actor, has been supporting approximately ten villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar. Working alongside local authorities and volunteer organisations, he is focusing on providing food, clean water, and medical assistance to those affected.

Amy Virk, another actor and singer, has pledged to take responsibility for at least 200 flood-affected families, expressing deep concern over the plight of the people in Punjab.
